Smash in support of Canadian Diabetes Association's Research & Camp Jean Nelson!

On Saturday June 25, 2011, we will be hosting Smash for a Cure™: an event to raise money to support the Canadian Diabetes Association's Camp Jean Nelson Program in Alberta and to help find a cure for diabetes through research. We are also promoting awareness for electronics recycling. The event will be taking place from 11am - 4pm at Southcentre Mall, 100 Anderson Road SE in Calgary, AB.

Event Elements

Smash Corral Make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association and then smash old or broken computers and accessories (laptops, desktops, printers, keyboards, mice, phones, etc) with any donation. Items used
to smash the computers will include a hammer, a golf club, a hockey stick, a baseball bat, a sledge hammer, a pitch fork, and much, much more!

All revenues from the Smash Corral will go directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Participants may choose to donate specifically to the research program, or towards Camp Jean Nelson in Alberta—this camp is for children ages 8 through 15 living with diabetes. Recycle Alberta has approved the event and arranged for all destroyed  devices to be recycled through our event partner, E-Cycle Solutions. 

Children’s Village Smash for the Cure™ will have kid's bouncers including a 35 foot obstacle course, giant slide, tot bouncers, and face painters. We have partnered with the Calgary Public Library to run kids games and activities and volunteers to help supervise the equipment. 

Live Entertainment Clark Robertson (AKA "Don Cherry") along with Darth Vader and the 501st Badlands Storm Trooper Garrison will be returning to host our Smash Corral and entertainment program.
